Suggest Remedy For Persistant Coughing And Gagging When Eating And Talking
I am an 81 year old male reasonably healthy. I have barretts asophgus that is treated with Omeprazole. mildly high BP treated with Lisinopril. asthma and assorted allergies treated with Loratadine, flovent, Combivent and an over the counter anti-histamine. My problem is persistant coughing and gagging when eating and talking. Although it may happen when I am dining alone. I have seen many specialists to no avail. The feeling i have is that there is a tiny piece of food on my voice chords. drinking water is know help. the only thing that stops the coughing is to stop eating or talking and let it rest. I have been reading about epiglotis malfunction. Is that a possibility? Thank you Thomas Jones
From you query it sound like you are having uncontrollable cough. You list in your medication list that you are taking Lisinopril. As a first line look I would say that you are having a cough associated with lisinopril. In my practice I would immediately stop linsopril and change it to a ARB medication or other anti-hypertension medication.
