Suggest Remedy For Persistent Ankles Swelling And Broken Veins
My daughter has an ankle that swells from time to time and has some broken veins that are very prominent in the area. Today she has had a vein to bleed to the outside 3 different times and it not only bleeds, but sprays out. To get it to stop she has had it propped up and wrapped with pressure on it. What can she do to keep this from reoccurring and is it potentially dangerous? She hasn t hit or traumatized the area to cause the bleeding, she just noticed a puddle of blood on the ground that caused her to look for its source.
First of all, I need to know if she has any previous history of such bleeding episodes from any site of the body like gums, nose, in urine or stool or during periods? Does she has easy bruise-ability? I suggest you to visit your doctor on urgent basis to look for the cause of this bleeding either its something from the blood or some local ankle problem. She might undergo some blood tests and imaging as well in order to get diagnosed properly.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sameen Bin Naeem, General & Family Physician
