Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Thank you. I came home from Italy with something. At first it seemed like a flu, but 11 days later, it is now bronchitis. I received a Zpak yesterday and have taken days 1 and 2. I am also using a Combivent Respimat and Mucinex. I am still coughing so much and wonder if the ZPack should have started working by now. Perhaps I have a worse bacterial infection than we thought.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain the medications given to you includes antibiotics, decongestants, cough reliever and anti-allergic and it is an appropriate combination to be taken during Bronchitis and as you have taken antibiotic [Z-Pak] only for 2 days you should continue taking it as it is appropriate medication for relieving bacterial infection and a full course should be taken for relief.. You can also do steam inhalations, use a humidifier in your room and take saline nasal sprays.. Do warm compresses over chest.. Cover your face while going out for to prevent dust exposure, and also avoid excessive cold exposure..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
