Suggest Remedy For Persistent Headaches After Suffering Concussion
Suffered a mild concussion at 560 above sea level. After 4 weeks, still have mild to severe headaches most of the time. I was planning a trip to the Colorado Rockies to see relatives. Would be staying at 6000 feet above sea level where they live. My question is, would this higher altitude have an adverse affect on my current medical condition? I can cancel the trip if it would negitively affect my current condition.
Headache may happen in any head trauma even without concussion but if this is severe or associated with nausea, vomiting and dizziness then you need to visit ER and do head scan to rule out more serious injuries.
It can occur after an impact to your head or after a whiplash-type injury that causes your head and brain to shake quickly back and forth.
If the concussion is causing headaches, we recommend over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen (Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol).
Also, you need to avoid lights, noise and smoky areas for several days. If there is no improvement you can see doctor but in most cases this is not required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein
