Suggest Remedy For Pressure And Swelling In Eye After Blowing The Nose

my husband blew his nose and his left eye got swollen fast. He does not have a fracture on his face but he did get elbowed in the face a couple of days ago. What can we do to release the pressure? The swelling went down on the eye but he is feeling pressure.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The nose itself can swell and the swelling can extend to the areas around the eyes. To relieve the swelling of the eyes, I recommend to use an anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg. I also recommend to use cold compresses for local application. If the symptoms continue, I suggest to see an ENT specialist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
