Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on my period for 9 days now. I have been on the implanon bc for 3 years September 2015. I m kind of concerned. The first few days of my period have been normal. I usually quit on the 7th day. The night of the 7th day I started back but it was a pale pink. An hour later it stopped. It did this all through the night. The 8th and 9th day I m still bleeding but it s an orange brown color. I m having no discharge like blood clots like I usually have. I need some help. I plan on making an OB appointment. I m looking for answers to help easy my mind until then.
Hello. Thanks for posting in HCM. The implants contains of hormones which are secreted throughtout the cycle. These hormones are additional hormones to the natural hormone concentration of your body. So whenever the implants are removed it causes sudden dip in the hormone levels in body which your body has got used to. So it will take time to adjust to the low (natural) hormone levels secreted by your body. But till then it will keep on bleeding and try to get adjusted to the new levels. It is very normal to have prolonged bleeding for some time. Do not be worried as once it stops your cycle will be again regular like before. As it is you are consulting your gynecologist, till then do not be worried as it is a normal phenomenon. I hope i have answered your query well. Thank you
