Suggest Remedy For Pus Filled Bump On The Gums

Dear Dr. Rynne,
I have good dental hygiene - I brush and floss and visit the dentist for a cleaning every four months. Approximately 6 months ago I had a little pin size bump on my upper left incisor closest to my canine tooth. When I press on that particular tooth, pus comes out where my upper incisor tooth enters the gum (at the gum line). It is only at this location. I have consulted my dentist who has recommended extracting that tooth and filling it with an implant. I am not ready to do that. There is no pain, just pus and recently I'm experiencing bad breath. What is the cause of this and your recommendations? Also, I tend to often get sinus infections on that same side - could this be related?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms a bump over the gums which cause pus discharge from gum crevice on pressing the tooth is most probably due to deep infection in your tooth which on pressing causes pus discharge..

Due to infection there is pus formation below the root tip of the tooth leading to DENTAL ABSCESS formation.

Nothing to worry, consult an Endodontist and get evaluated and along with clinical evaluation get an IOPAR [ xray] done and in case of dental abscess he can do Root Canal Treatment done followed by antibiotics and painkillers.
In case if tooth is not in condition to be saved then extraction followed by Implant placement or a bridge can be done..
