have been having recurring attacks of uti for many years. It got worse after i had a cystoscopy and bladder done as i feel the cathter affected me. since 2007 i get attacks every two weeks or even one week. i tried taking pyridium but was not effective. My urologist prescribed Niftran with cranbe capsules and oxalabact capsules. it gave me relief but recently i find that when i stop niftran (i was taking it twice a day - and sometimes one a day) the attacks recurred. as i travel frequently it is essential that i get complete relief. please advise if its safe to continue daily with 1 niftran capsule. thank you.
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You should go for urine culture and sensitivity test to detect bacteria causing urinary tract infection. You should also for blood sugar testing to rule out diabetes. Levofloxacin or norfloxacin are helpful in your urinary tract infection depending on sensitivity. Consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
