Hi there I ve been having anxiety for a couple weeks now off and on...It is a scared feeling about something but I have no idea what...it happens thru the days but more intense at night...its hard to describe...I feel almost lost inside because I can t figure it out and that only seems to amplify things...no diet change or medication change or anything like that...your help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello and welcome to HCM, It is first important to acertain the cause of anxiety. The anxiety can occur due to some underlying disorder or it may be psychological. In case anxiety is accompanied by pain of specific body part like chest, abdomen etc then complete examination of chest and abdomen is required. Thus, I suggest you to consult a physician for complete physical examination and relevant investigations. If all body organs are found to be functioning well, anti-anxiety drugs are required to control the anxiety. In addition to drugs, anxiety can be managed by relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga, exercise, balanced diet and social support. However, the first step is to consult a physician for clinical assessment.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
