Suggest Remedy For Recurring Lightheadedness

I have been having light headedness for almost 2 weeks. I went to the doctor and she gave me meclizine 25 mg 3x s a day. Some of the dizziness have subsided. I stopped taking the med because it ran by b/p up after 2 days. There is not pain associated with this condition only the sensation that lasts for 3-5 seconds especially if I hold my head foward or get up suddenly.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are suffering from recurring light headedness. This sensation persists for 3-5 seconds when you hold your head forwards. You are suggested to get clinically examined and evaluated by an ENT, your symptoms are indicative of vertigo. Get required tests and investigations done. Get audiometry test, head and eye movement test, rotary chair testing, posturography, these test reports will help to study the hearing and balance tests.

In the meantime, avoid doing any heavy work and do not drive any vehicle, stay at rest. It is commonly treated with a course of Betahistine (16mg) and anti- anxiety medicines. Therapies like balance therapy, psychotherapy and head position maneuvers are helpful.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
