Hello,

The following are few probable causes of your loose motions with bad smell:
1) Food poisoning
2) Amoebic dysentery
3) Hepatitis A
4) E.coli infections
5) Acute cholecystitis
6) Ischemic colitis
7) Salmonella infection
8) Shigella infection

Treatment depends upon the cause. My recommendations are as follows:
1) Take oral rehydration solutions more frequently as there is loss of water and electrolytes in stools.
2) Stool sample is to be given in a laboratory for examination.
3) Take a tab. Oflox oz where ofloxacin is 200mg and Ornidazole is 500mg is taken twice daily for 5 days.
4) Tab. Redotil 100mg is to be taken twice daily until stools frequency becomes normal.
5) Tab. Econorm is to be taken once daily for 28 days. This helps in normalization of your gut flora.

If your motions don't get controlled even after the above treatment, you need to go to a physician for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
