Suggest Remedy For Recurring Mucus Buildup In Throat

I have clear thick mucus that causes me to vomit around 4 in the morning almost daily. During the day and especially when I lay down to sleep, I have a wet cough that I have to cough really hard to get fluid out of my throat. It is thick, clear and tasteless. It is so thick it just keeps running out of my mouth when I am gagging or throwing up. During the day, it just gags me or feels like I can t breath until I can get it out of my throat. This has been going on for years. It started when I went to Mississippi after the hurricane for military training and only worsened when I went to Afghanistan in 2006. Nothing seems to help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. Thanks for asking Healthcare Magic. Mucus buildup can be a sign of bacterial infection of the upper respiratory tract. It can sometimes cause irritation and person vommits. i would suggest to start with approproate antibiotics like amoxycillin and clavunate acid 500/125 mg twice a day along with steam inhalation. for 5 days. You can take mucinac effervescent tablets which help in thinning the mucus. Take a syrup that contaions terbutaline and ambroxol 10 ml three times a day.
I hope this helps. Thanks and regards.
