Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Remedy For Recurring Pain And Sensitivity In Bunion Area Post Foot Surgery
In 2014 I had foot surgery to remove a severe bone spur--surgery included removal of cartiledge, insertion on bone that had to be pinned with a metal plate on top--this part of surgery was a success. The surgeon also reduced the size of a bunion (which did not hurt)--he could only reduce slightly because of the complexity of my other procedure. Now the bunion area is sensitive to the touch a looks like a small dot like callus has formed. I knew going into this surgery there would be some permanent numbness to my foot, which is a small price to pay for the not having the bone spur pain anymore. I am, however, perplexed by the lingering new bunion pain.
The permanent cure or treatment of bunion is going for surgery however since you had a surgery recently, you may not be interested in going for another one immediately. I would advise you to avoid wearing tight, pointy, high heeled shoes and wear comfortable shoes which do not cause pressure, use insoles and toe supports for the time being.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
