Suggest Remedy For Recurring Reddish And Itchy Bumps From Insect Bite

I have been getting bites since April. Went to my dr. and he said they are some kind of insect bites. I have no fleas, no bed bugs. They first appeared on my left leg...............cleared up, then went to my right leg.........now I have some on my left arm. Dr. gave me an antibiotic and antiobiotic salve. They are red and the itching is TERRIBLE. What kind of dr. do I need to help me with this as mine is just an Internest? HELP

Hi,

There is a possibility that the recurring reddish and itchy bumps are due to some sort of allergic reaction like contact dermatitis. It is an allergic reaction which occurs when skin comes in contact with certain agents that your body is allergic to like skin cosmetics, detergents, soaps, fragrances, leather, latex, poison ivy etc.

Another cause can be food allergy or side effect of medicines. You should consult an allergist or an Infectious Medicine Specialist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests to rule out allergies and infection, microscopic examination of scrapings from lesion can help. As of now you can take anti allergics like Benadryl for relieving itching and do cool compresses over bumps. Once the cause is ruled out it will be treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
