Hello Sir, I frequently get tonsil infection (like every 3 months or so). The infection subsides only after taking antibiotics. What could be reasons for recurring Tonsilitis. I do try to maintain a good person hygiene, but nevertheless the infection always happen in 3-4 months. Please suggest some preventive measures to prevent tonsilitis... Thanks, Anshuman Kumar (M/29)
Welcome to HCM THis is Dr Amit. In my opinion you should go for the Tonsillectomy (Removal of tonsil) as you are having recurrent infections of tonsil which is one of the absoulute indication for Tonsillectomy. The germs that cause viral and bacterial tonsillitis are contagious. Therefore, the best prevention is to practice good hygiene so 1.Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, especially after using the toilet and before eating 2.Avoid sharing food, drinking glasses or utensils 3.Drink plenty of fluids. 4.Gargle with warm salt water several times a day. 5.Use a humidifier to moisten the air in your home. 6.Avoid smoke. feel free to ask if you have any other query Regards
