Suggest Remedy For Recurring Urethral Infection Post Catheterisation
Hello I have strictures they are not much of a problem as I cath myself regularly! The problem is a intense itching inside my uritha after catheterisation My Dr gives me antibiotics and keep myself very clean as not to give myself a infection but it always comes back! Is there a antibacterial cream or something that can go on the catheter before I use it that would kill any germs and stop the intense itching every time I catheteris myself. Look forward for a response!

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
While getting self catheterization, aseptic procedure can not be perfect. It must have instilled to get rid of the problem.
- To find exact causative organism by culture and sensitivity test, exclude presence of trichomonal infection. Followed by vigorous treatment under guidance of a urologist - To get strictures treated by optical internal urethrotomy done by an expert urethral surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
