Suggest Remedy For Red And Inflamed Spot On The Thigh

I put on my fleece pants and immediately felt like I got bitten by something . Took em off & put em in the laundry. Went back to put something else on but noticed that the spot was dark/tiny. Thinkin it was a seed tick I started w/my tweezers but the spot was more like a short-line/or dash. Of course, now I ve made it red and inflamed but when I sat on the toilet seat to pee I realized it coulda come from there instead of my pants. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanx!

Hello,

You are having a red and inflamed spot on the thigh. It can be caused by allergies, infection, hormonal changes, urticaria, razor bumps, jock itch, insect bite, friction, folliculitis, keratosis Pilaris, etc. Keratosis pilaris can be treated by applying lactic acid lotions, alpha hydroxy acid lotions. Applying hydrocortisone cream will relieve you of itching.

Take antihistamine, one at bed time for 3 nights to reduce symptoms of allergy. Warm compression will help. Do not keep the skin dry as it may cause worsening of the symptoms. Apply water based moisturizers. Take care of your hygiene, cleanse gently. Avoid friction and accumulation of sweat, dead skin cells and oil on the skin around the thigh. Get hormonal imbalance treated. Avoid taking food that causes allergy.

Treat some body disorders that can lead to bumps on thigh especially those triggered by allergens. Get STDs tests done to stay on the safer side. You will be treated with a course of antibiotics / antivirals. You should get treated fungal infection with antifungals. Take care of your hygiene.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
