I had a colonoscopy done on Wednesday and had an IV in my hand. Soon after I left I knew it was going to be a bruise. It started blue in color, but after two days I noticed red area on my hand, the next day the red area increased. Right now 3/4 of my hand ( at the site of the injection) is red. It started to get darker. Should I worry about it?
Hi!! I have gone through your history and you should not take stress as it a common occurrence after Intravenous line. It occurs due to inflammation of the veins. Apply ice on the bruised area two to three times a day. You can also apply thrombophob gel which contains heparin sodium on the red area twice a day. This will help in rapid resolution of your symptoms. Hope for your speedy recovery.
