Suggest Remedy For Red, Itchy Bumps On Head After Shaving The Head While On Chemo
I am going through chemo for breast cancer. I went to a hair salon and had what was left of my hair shaved off with an electric head shaver. the hair was cut very short. Now I have a scalp full of red angry bumps. What can I use to fix this itchy mess?
Probably this suggests contact dermatitis/allergic reaction to the blade or any lotion. Try taking an antihistamine (Levocetirizine 5mg) for 5 days. Also, apply an emollient over there. This will relieve the itching. If this is not getting better in 2-3 days, if the bumps become pus filled or pain full, or you develop fever, kindly see your doctor without delay, as this might suggest a secondary infection that needs antibiotic treatment also.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
