Suggest Remedy For Right Sided Jaw Pain Due To Salivary Duct Blockage

I have pain only on the right side of my jaw. I went to the ER three weeks ago and was told it was a clogged salivary duct. I was told to eat sour things and it would go away. I also was told to use a hot pad on my face. The pain in my jaw comes and goes throughout the day. Today was the first day that I ve had problems swallowing. It s painful to swallow. Almost like I m being stabbed in the throat. I also should note that I have sleep apnea.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that if you have pain on the right side of the jaw along with developing dysphagia that is painful swallowing seems to be probably due to infection in the salivary gland and not a clogged duct as mostly the clogged duct leads to painless expansion/ swelling of the salivary gland..
You should consult an Oral Surgeon in this regard and get evaluated and he can do a clinical examination and can advise investigations like x ray or MRI of the salivary gland along with saliva culture and it will help in ruling out the exact cause of the problem and treat accordingly..
In case if there is infection in salivary gland then a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and drinking plenty of water, sucking sour candies and massaging the salivary gland with fingers can relieve..
If there is associated duct blockage then removal of obstruction either manually or surgically can help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
