Suggest Remedy For Roughening Of Skin On Contact With Semen
Hi, can any dermatologist tell me how to get rid of some rough patches that form on my hand when in contact with sperm, not sure if its an allergic reaction, it does not itch or burn, no sensation, but after a while I notice that small patches will appear like solidify almost like crust and make skin more rough, tried to google problem online but did not see anyone with exact same problem, most people speak only of irritation.
Semen may cause formation of patches on the skin if left there to dry. It can also cause skin irritation and dryness. You are suggested to wash off the semen or have a bath, do not let it dry on the skin. Apply light moisturizing lotion to avoid dryness of the skin like Cetaphil or lubriderm lotion, calamine lotion also works well.
Hydrocortisone cream or pramosone creams effectively ease out irritation. Always perform safe sex. Cuts or abrasions in the skin may give path to the entry of infection (STD) if the partner is infected.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
