Suggest Remedy For Scaly. Dry Painful Skin Patch On Buttocks
I have some very dry, hard scaly areas on my buttocks - they hurt. The worst is right in the cleft between the two sides. I put lotion, vaseline, etc. on the areas, but to no avail. They seem to start clearing up and then get worse again. Currently I have a pad with lotion stuck on them to ease the pain and dryness. Not sure what to do
Dry scaly painful patches on the buttocks are commonly caused by atopic dermatitis and eczema. It may be genital herpes caused by STI and HSV. You are suggested to get it clinically examined by a GP, get STD tests done to be on the safer side. If the tests are positive you will need antibiotics and antivirals. Take care of your hygiene, do not scratch. Avoid sex for a couple of days. Do not share your toiletries with anyone. For relief, you can take antihistamines, anti inflammatory pain killers. For local application apply hydrocortisone ointment/gel. Eczederm cream or Betnovate N are also effective.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
