Suggest Remedy For Severe Abdominal Pain In An Elderly Person With Crohn's Disease
Hi. I'm a 51 yr old female, with chronic crohns and have had multiple surgeries. I have been suffering with severe abdominal pain which required a hospital admission. On discharge the letter I was given mentions mesenteric panniculitis. I have a consultation with my gastroenterologist shortly but in the meantime what food should I avoid as I am constantly experiencing constipation followed by diarohea
If your hospital discharge letter was suggestive of mesenteric paniiculitis then what you should be prescribed mesacol-OD (mesalazine) which is actually an anti-inflammatory drug used to treat inflammation of the digestive tract like in case of inflammatory bowel disease.
So,the important thing is to know the underlying cause of your frequent stools followed by constipation whether it is infective or chronic inflammatory.
You must consult gastroenterologist for complete medical history and thoroughly clinical examination with interpretation of your previous reports.
You can also go for gut biopsy to have a confirmed diagnosis.
If you also be given Orni-o and mesacol-od (mesalazine) and from which mesacol-OD should be continued till the next follow-up.
It takes time like 4 to 5 months according to our body response to recover when you are being treated for IBD.
