Suggest Remedy For Severe Anxiety Attacks With Mood Swings

hi i suffer from high anxiety. do not know what causes it but i do. it started a few years ago. i was always feeling sick. so doctors put me on anti depressants. it was horrible. they gave me bad thoughts. couldn t sit still or eat properly. i lost 15 kilos in a few months. i decided to go off them a few months ago. with my doctors approval. i lasted 2 months with out them then started getting all edgy. not being able to sit still. so i am now back on them. my doctor said i shouldn t have any problems this time. but he was wrong. i can t sit still or eat much. i am having bad thoughts. i am up and down in moods. i feel annoyed and disappointed in myself because im going through this again. the only thing that seems to help me get through the days is Serapax. i take 1 tablet 3 times a day. i am only suppose to take half 3 times a day but it doesn t keep the stupid thoughts away. Any advise please to help me get through this awful stage again. i wish i had never gone off them now....

Hi,

I cannot say in your particular case but cognitive behavioral therapy would be good. Also, SSRIs are often helpful and Benzodiazepines are habit forming and with a nasty withdrawal.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman, Addiction Medicine Specialist
