Suggest Remedy For Severe Headaches Caused By Intake Of L Arginine
I recently started taking L-Arginine mostly for ED and the early results have been promising. I also enjoy what seems like extra energy as well. However the side effects for me have been massive headaches even in doses as low as 500mg a day, and I never have taken more than 1000mg in a day. I m not sure that the aspirin and Advil have been helping. What can I do to stop these headaches other than quit taking the L-Arginine?
Yes, usage of L arginine is associated with headache. The following are treatment options for headache without quitting the drug: 1) Rest in a quiet, dark room 2) Hot or cold compresses to your head or neck 3) Massage and small amounts of caffeine 4) Over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others), acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) and aspirin. 5) Tab. Lexapro or Escitalopram 10mg can be taken once daily at night.
If your headache persists even after above treatment, please do consult a physician for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
