This morning, I was putting a table saw into the back of my truck. I do this routinely and I always make a conscious effort to use proper lifting tecniques whenever lifting heavy objects. However, for whatever reason, I lifted up on the saw from the side of it and felt myself do a slight jerk with my right side. I immediately felt what I can only describe as an excruciating stab in the center of my lumbar region. Shortly after, I got home and immediately began hot and cold compress in 15 minute intervals accompanied by my TENS machine. I laid on my living room floor for hours in horrible pain. Now, approximately 8 hours after the initial injury, I cannot stand erect. I can manage to stand while completely hunched over and supporting my upper body weight with my arms on my knees. I can not stand up straight. I basically cannot move anything in the area from my naval to my groin without feeling what is easily the worst pain I ve ever felt in my life. Also, I am a 30 year old, otherwise healthy full-time fire fighter. I don t know what to do. Please help!!
