My developed a pain on his left lower abdomen. His pediatrician ordered an ultrasound and discoverd a cyst like mass. It was removed, the surgeon said he had it since birth and it grew as he was growing. He is fifteen now. Could this be possible and is something to worry about.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain in abdomen. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like gastroesophageal reflux disease , gastroenteritis , irritable bowel syndrome , crohn’s disease , lactose intolerance or appendicitis. It seems to me that the symptoms are pointing towards diverticulitis or appendicitis . I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may recommend its surgical removal otherwise it will get infected sometimes and cause problem . If your have already got it removed , then no need to worry .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
