Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain In Anus During Bowel Movement While On Chemo
I am 62 years old male. Diagnosed Carcinoma rectosigmoid. Underwent laproscopic low anterior resection on 1st April 2015. On chemo (injection plus tab Xeloda 500 mg. Daily 2000 mg morning and night. two injections over. No significant side effect except frequent loose stool (very small quantity) passing with severe pain in anus. Frequent washing resulting in burning sensation. Doctor recommended anobliss for external application and sitz bath with hot water. Due to frequent washing application for medicine becoming in effective. Kindly advise me how to overcome this problem. Thanks
As per my clinical experience, the severe pain anal region with frequent small quantity stools indicate proctitis which is known side effect of chemotherapy after rectosigmoid carcinoma surgery. Guidelines for better recovery: - Continuation of sitz bath - Local application of Xylocaine jelly - Prefer diet with high fiber - Bulk forming laxative - Lactobacillus support with pre and pro biotics - Avoid smoking, alcohol if consuming - Anti-inflammatory medications as tramadol hydrochloride or else - Steroid enema in severe, resistant cases
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
