Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain In Bruised Area After Applying Boric Acid Powder

I placed undiluted savlon liquid on a bruised area /cut & now the skin is irritated a lot and appears redish, bumpy & burn-like. It is also painful. At first I put some antibiotic ointment on it, then some hours after I put Boric Acid powder to help dry it up but it still hurts a lot and skin looks rough/ bumpy. What do I do?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

This suggests chemical irritation to the skin. Take Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen to relieve pain. Keep the area clean. Apply an emollient twice daily over the irritated area, and an antibiotic cream like Mupirocin over the cut / wound for 5-7 days. If no relief in 2 days, the area becomes swollen / blistered, kindly see your doctor, for further management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
