Suggest Remedy For Severe Symptoms Of Mild Demyelinating Neuropathy
I have been diagnosed with demyelinating neuropathy. Doctor said the case is mild but, Symptoms are severe. What does that mean? I have times when I hurt so much my body shuts down. I lapse into a coma like state and sleep for hours. Once this is over I still hurt but, mostly have the tingling in my legs. Can this condition be cured?
Demyelinating neuropathy is the condition in which the nerves and the nerve roots are inflamed which damages the protective covering of the nerves called Myelin. Degeneration of the myelin sheath results in poor signal conduction which results in weakness and numbness. If the symptoms persist for more than eight weeks than it is called as chronic demyelinating polyneuropathy.
Other symptoms are tingling sensation of the nerves, pain and tiredness. Treatment contains corticosteroids which helps in reducing inflammation of the nerve and thus the myelin sheath, plasma therapy, immunotherapy, intravenous immunoglobin and stem cell transplant. Earlier the treatment, better the results.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
