Suggest Remedy For Sharp Pain In Shoulders

Hi. I am having a shooting pain in my left shoulder that is sharp but does not feel like a muscle pain more like a nerve if I were to guess. It is often joined by a pain at the same exact time in the very bottom of my left rib cage. The pain started a week ago. It was extremely intense the first 2 days but has lessened since. There is a constant ache in the left shoulder but the sharp pains come and go often triggered by taking a deep breathe. Thank you for any ideas you have.Eric

I think there can be two possibilities of such sharp pain. First It can be due to a nerve compression in the neck and other cause can be fluid accumulation in the shoulder, To confirm the diagnosis I would suggest you to get MRI of the cervical spine and shoulder to see if there is nerve compression of the shoulder.
If if it present then you need physiotherapy and hot water fomentation . if compression is in the neck then it can be treated with intermittent cervical traction exercises.
