Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
All day yesterday and today I have had sharp griping pains in my tummy. It is not a constant pain, but comes intermittently which lasts possibly only for 10 seconds at a time off and on throughout the day. I don t have diahorrhea and not been sick. I have just been very careful in what I have eaten. I don t know whether it warrants a trip to the doctor or if I could buy something myself over the counter. I am going away on holiday in a couple of days time .
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of sharp griping pains in tummy for 2 days, intermittently, lasting for 10 seconds only. No diarrhea, not feeling sick or so, careful with what you eat. going away in a couple of days for a holiday in a couple of weeks. Wants to know whether to see a Doctor or to buy something OTC... My thoughts after reading your history: Griping pains lasting for 10 seconds, recurrent and for 2 days warrants clinical evaluation, examination and investigations like X-ray of the abdomen in standing position, ultrasound of abdomen, tests of blood, urine and stool to help a proper diagnosis and treatment. The most probable causes can be sub-acute intestinal obstruction or infection and so on.
