hello, my 42 yo daughter has had Diabetes since age 10, has done great, has been a busy school teacher and is raising 2 children, In 2012 she started getting really fatigued and after ruling out several etiology possibilities was diagnosed with CFS. She continued to work but life became more difficult as time went on. Last Sept she started having shortness of breath with exertion, had normal cardiac work up, was told she had asthma but treatment made no difference. On Friday she had the invasive test for exercise induced PAH, pressure went to 34. no rt. heart damage, Could this have been her problem all along and still not have done heart damage? r

Hello,

Your 42 year daughter is suffering from shortness of breath with exertion. She has history of having diabetes. She gets tired, is diagnosed with CFS, chronic fatigue syndrome. She has been treated for asthma but it did not work. She went through investigations and tests, no heart problem was detected. She is suggested to stay away from any kind of stress (emotional and physical), stress may trigger symptoms of asthma. She should be counseled (CBT), physical therapy will be helpful for her.

Once she learns to manage stress, the frequency of shortness of breath will reduce gradually and naturally. She should control her blood glucose level at all cost with the help of medicines, herbs and strict diet control. She needs to switch to heathy lifestyle and healthy eating. She should give some time to herself in grooming, walking-exercising, gardening, singing, meditating and relaxing.

If overweight, she should reduce weight. She should take home made nutritious diet that will help her maintain blood pressure and mineral requirement of the body. If symptoms remain persistent she should get clinically examined by a GP and get the required tests (thyroid function tests, etc.) done. She should stay away from addictions if any. She should take quality sleep, at least 7-8 hours at night. Taking break from work will be good for relaxation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
