I have had to have a blood test as they wish to put me on dapsone as I have a skin rash ( sorry don t know the correct name for it) and it hasn t worked with UVB treatment. It has come back as quite low level, so I have to repeat the blood test this week. The blood test is a G-6-PD Assay.
Dermatologist wants to put on dapsone... that is why the investigation of G-6PD is advised... if it is positive... dapsone cannot be taken. I think you may be having dermatitis herpetiformis. In this condition, dapsone has a marked role in improving the condition.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Ilyas Patel,
