Suggest Remedy For Sore Throat, Cough And Runny Nose
I have a sore throat, cough, sneezing, runny nose and overall achiness. The latest symptom to appear is sore armpits. Shoud I be concerned - do I need antibiotics or will this run its course? I don t like taking antibiotics if I don t need to. Thank you !

Hi,
Sore throat, coughing, sneezing, runny nose and now sore armpits indicates either a viral infection or can be a bacterial infection. You need the following in such a case as you are thinking of that it may run its own course.
* Most of viral infections usually are healed by the body but it is better to take at least an anti-inflammatory medicines with painkiller properties as you have body ache and other symptoms
* Nasal and / or oral decongestant will help you for runny nose and sneezing
* Povidone iodine for sore throat
If these things do not help in a day then it is better to consult your regular physician and have proper clinical evaluation, examination and investigations of throat swab and tests of blood. If WBC count is more or clinically there is any evidence of an antibiotic then your doctor will give you a prescription based antibiotic and additional management as needed.
