Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi my son, is 3 years old, he has just started to see a speech therapist and i have been told he has a bad speech delay he can only say a few words, but understands what i say 100% he can follow instructions etc.. we were told taht he was tounge tied. so had surgery to correct that he had always been a dribbly kid, also has a prob with vomiting , and vomits often out of no where he breaths very heavy and has a husky voice... i was told at birth that he had a floppy larynx, could this be part of the reason for his speech delay?
Hi...floppy larynx usually gets better by 1.5 to 2.5 years of age and rarely if it persists can cause hoarseness of voice, but not speech delay. Suggestions: 1. I suggest you are doing great by singing rhymes to him. 2. Do not use tablet or computer or TV or laptop for doing that. 3. Do not force him too much comparing him with others. 4. He might get benefited by speech therapy, but before that kindly get back with the answers to my above questions. Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
