Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes, my boyfriend has an infection on his face. I think it may be a spider bite or staph. He had one on his knee about a month ago, and he hit in the shower by accident, and ended up draining all the puss out. It got better on its own eventually but it was painful and gross. He refuses to see a doctor. What do I do?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have staph infection on face which is a bacterial infection. I would suggest you to go for a combination treatment with antibiotics such as penicillin along with a topical application of either mupirocin ointment as this is the most effective way. If you are allergic to penicillin you should go for cephalosporin group of antibiotics. If condition doesn't get better in a month then consult dermatologist again for proper diagnosis and to rule out any underlying condition . Doctor may prescribe isoteritenoin , steroid ointment or antibiotics course. Take Multivitamin supplements.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
