I recently had shoulder surgery for an impingement problem. I was having to sleep on my back for about 6 months before the surgery, and another 6 months during the post-op recovery. I generally sleep on my side. My neck is very tight and sore where it meet the center of the spine parallel to my shoulders. Sedatives like hydrocodone seem to help some, and in the process my blurry vision improves some. I just had my eye vision prescription reworked and got new lenses. My doctor does a complete blood workup every 3 months before renewing my cholesterol medicine (had quad bypass in 2002). No mention of diabetes. Optometrist did not find anything wrong except a tweek for far-sightedness. (I went for the exam early in the morning, and took an ibuprofen and Tramadol to try to relax the neck, ...and told the doc everything I did, ...and described this problem. So believe prescription is okay. Can see okay if take 2 to 3 hydrocodone over about 8 hours. Have some darvocet. It seems to work much better, but told to not use it. Raised pillow last night by placing a 3 thick memory foam pillow between mattress and box, and used rolled hand towel beneath curvature of neck . Seemed to help. Was able to sleep on left shoulder operated on last night. Better today. But took a darvocet this morning too. But seemed to feel better when I woke for the fourth time (yes, I only sleep about 2 hours and then get up to void bladder, or spray nostril to open up with nasal mist, or take a Tylenol PM, ...or reach for an ibuprofen, hydrocodone, aspirin, or Tramadol (all in conjunction with Zantac as doctor directed. ...not because of stomach problem, but need to keep stomach happy so I absorb enough folic acid ...otherwise I have disfigured red blood cells, and they do not transfer hemoglobin efficiently to cause oxygen deprivation in extremities to cause the symptoms of iron deficiency erroneously. I had thought for years I was anemic,, but doc said I was not assimilating folic acid through stomach receptors.) to cause poor red blood cell architecture.) But now I need to clear this neck pain so I can see and stop taking sedatives. Sedatives weaken my muscles, and inhibit my recovery of my stamina. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.
