I recently was found to have severe cataracts in both eyes and have been telling the doctor that every day (worse in am) my hands and feet suffer from immobility. making it hard to close my hands grip anything as well. as stand up and walk. Upon waking it takes quite sometime to get hands and feet to loosin up. May I remind you this is litterly sn everyday occurance. thank you for your time. Angel
Early morning stiffness is very commonly seen in rheumatoid arthritis. I would advise you to get the same checked by getting some blood tests which are not very expensive. Fibromyalgia also can be a reason for the above symptoms however I would recommend you to rule out rheumatoid arthritis.
If ruled out, you can take few steps to reduce the symptoms like keeping room warm in morning, getting some exercise for your fingers and toes in bed itself before getting up and taking anti-inflammatory drugs at night or early morning as soon as you get up.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
