Suggest Remedy For Stiffness On Leg Muscles After Bladder Surgery

I have had a bladder sling surgery awhile ago and I am now finding that although the bladder concerns have been resolved, I find I am very stiff and find it hard to stretch my leg muscles. It s not my hamstrings that are tight as much as it seems rigid where my incisions were for the surgery. Is this because of scar tissue?

Hi,

The stiffness you are experiencing in your leg muscles may be due to scar tissue from the bladder surgery. Scar tissue can cause stiffness and limited mobility, which can affect the muscles surrounding the incision site. Here are some remedies you can try to alleviate the stiffness and discomfort:
Gentle stretching: Try gentle stretching exercises to help loosen up your leg muscles. You can start with simple stretches like quad stretches, hamstring stretches, and calf stretches.
Massage: Massage therapy can help to break up scar tissue and promote circulation, which can aid in reducing stiffness. You can consult with a licensed massage therapist to receive a professional massage or try self-massage techniques at home.
Heat therapy: Applying heat to the affected area can help to increase blood flow and reduce stiffness. You can use a heating pad, a hot water bottle, or take a warm bath.
Physical therapy: Consult with a physical therapist who can assess your condition and design a customized exercise plan to help improve your range of motion and reduce stiffness.
Pain relief medication: If the stiffness is causing you pain or discomfort, you may take over-the-counter pain relief medication such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

It is important to consult with your healthcare provider if the stiffness persists or if you experience any other symptoms. They may recommend additional treatment or refer you to a specialist if necessary.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
