Suggest Remedy For Stinging And Burning Eyes Post Splash Of Hot Oil

I started to rinse a pan with hot olive oil in it and the oil splashed up into my face. I am not sure if the hot oil actually went in my eyes, but the oil splattered in the area of my eyes. I didn t feel pain right away and there isn t any redness, but 12 hours later, my eyes are stinging and burning. Wouldn t I have felt something immediately if the oil had gone into my eyes? I didn t rinse them out with water or anything because they did not feel irritated. But now I m worried that maybe the hot oil did go in my eyes because both eyes are feeling irritated and sore. What should I do?

Hi

The first thing I would ask you to do is to get yiur eyes examined by a doctor if at all that is possible. For now rinse your eyes wait water and check to see if you can get your hands on some artifical tear drops (carboxymethylcellulose or hydroxypropylcellulose) or an antibiotic eye drop like oflaxocin.

Best wishes.
