Suggest Remedy For Stomach Pain And Irregular Bowel Movements

I have had a stomach problem mostly upper stomach pains, lots of gas and my bowel movements changed to like small nuggets and more often. I am taking medicine because the doctor suspected ulcers. Also my diet has changed - no spicey foods, coffee etc. Is this normal under the circumstances?
