My son is 6 - normal height and build. He has been suffering with a stuffy nose and I took him to the docs yesterday. He was prescribed a nasal spray (steriod) to releive inflamation. He has been tilting his head back to breath through this nose and is doing it more and more frequently. Is this any cause for concern? His chest, ears etc were clear and no temp. Thanks
Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of stuffy nose which seems to be due to allergies , hay fever, nasal polyps, sinusitis, and a deviated septum.
Need not to worry. You should apply warm compresses on nose and keep your head elevated while sleeping, take steam and take benadryl twice a day.
I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , nasal endoscopy and blood tests. Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestant or expectorant . Doctor may also prescribe anti allergic or recommend surgery in case of deviated nasal septum or nasal polyp.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
