Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Remedy For Swelling Near The Penis After Hernia Operation
I had a hernia operation two days ago, and now the skin around my penis is swelling, with a redish color. I figure I should get it checked right away. Is this common? Is it an emergency? There is no blood when I urinate, and all seems to be healing ok externally.
The situation calls for urgent medical attention; the swelling could be a sign of underlying infection which can lead to complications like tissue necrosis, permanent damage to blood supply or nerve supply of the area to most dreaded complication in post-operation patients that is sepsis. I suggest seeing your treating doctor or walking into emergency room. In meantime, keep the clean and as dry as possible.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef, General & Family Physician
