Suggest Remedy For Swelling On Legs After Insect Bite
I got bitten (I think) by a bug last Friday or Thursday and today at work my whole leg started hurting and I assumed because I couldn t stop and check that the scab that had become over the day of my bite healing had just peeled beneath my leg. Anyway when I got to the car and checked it out the bite I had was now bigger swollen and hard. Any idea what this could be and our how to treat it?
Swelling on the legs after insect bite is commonly due to the venom of the sting that causes swelling, inflammation, itching, redness, pain, etc. Since you are having swelling that is causing the spread of infection, get clinically examined in ER, get the sting out. You need medical aid to avoid complications like dizziness, trouble breathing, septicemia, etc.
In the meantime, you can apply Soframycin cream or Neosporin cream on the affected area. Use a cloth dampened with cold water or filled with ice. This helps reduce pain and swelling. Since the bite is on the leg keep it elevated. Applying hydrocortisone cream or calamine lotion will ease your symptoms. You can take antihistamines to reduce allergic reactions. Get treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
