my child fell and cut his lip. this was 3 days ago. i haven t done much to it except put a little peroxide on it. but it is still swollen and is now white, which looks like pus inside. what do i do? is it infected? (he is 3 years old) my husband is recommending that we burst the area with pus...?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swelling on lip after injury which seems to be due to inflammation of lips caused by traumatic injury leading to accumulation of inflammatory exudate. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply cold compresses on lips as it will reduce pain and swelling. Main asepsis and start taking proper antibiotic course along with anti-inflammatory medication. Avoid sharp and spicy food. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined completely and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
