Hi I hurt my thumb yesturday when I was messing around with my mate then it clicked or craked or something and after that it swells up and really hurts I was trying to move it but it was hurting so I didn t move it for the rest of the day so I went home then went to sleep so this morning I woke up it is still swollen and still to move with pain a bit what shall I do
You should go to doctor. It's probably a thumb sprain.if ignored with the hope that it will heal it self and if ligament injury is not diagnosed and treated properly it may lead to instability ,weakness and ultimately arthritis. So its better to see the doctor and he/she will decide the treatment either immobilization splint or cast for three weeks followed by physiotherapy if there is only a sprain with partial ligament injury or minor bony injury and no instability Or surgery if there is complete ligament injury or major bony injury with instability followed by splint or cast for 6-8WKS. All this, is theoretically, the doctor who examines and has good experience will be the best judge. So dont ignore it just go to the doctor.
