Suggest Remedy For The Pain In Ear And Wax

I am a 29 year old female. I poked my ear last night with my glasses. It was in a lot of pain & I kept ice on it. I lost all of my hearing in that ear but today some of my hearing came back & there was ear wax that formed over night in that ear also. It feels like its plugged. Will this take a few days or do I need to go to the doctor? Is there anything I can do at home for it? Should I put ice on it again?

Hi,

Noted your history about a 29 year old female, poked ear with glasses, lots of pain, feeling blockage,
The problem with self cleaning is with the things one puts in ear, it removes only a part of wax but pushes in the most of it towards eardrum causing the feeling of blockage due to impaction in ear canal or near eardrum.
Another issue is with the trauma that is caused while removing wax or so. This gives oedema of skin that gets entrapped in between the bone outside and the wax inside causing unbearable pain.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation.
Consult your Doctor for preliminary examination and get started on proper antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines.
Wax dissolving ear drops.
If required get an appointment for an ENT Surgeon for further evaluation, removal of wax and as required.
Do not try anything at home now.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
