Suggest Remedy For The Recurrence Of Genital Warts

I have been with my partner for almost three years and also been sexually active. She has HPV but not one of the severe cases, and has given me genital warts twice, which i have had removed. she is going to get Gardasil. Once she has that will I stop getting warts, or will I still be getting those for the rest of my life as I will most likely be spending it with her?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Genital warts is an infection caused by Human Papilloma Virus (Hpv). It is transmitted by close/ intimate contact with an infected partner.
You have already got the infection from her even though presently you don't have visible warts.
Every time you have genital warts it does'nt mean that it is a new infection. It may be reactivation of an Older Hpv infection also.
Most of the times body' s own immunity takes care of the infection and most of those who were Hpv positive test negative at 1 year after infection provided there are no new infections.
Gardasil is a quadrivalent vaccine against the cancer causing Hpv types i.e type 16, 18, 31 and 33. However, most of the genital warts are caused by different Hpv types i.e Low risk Hpv types, not just High risk Hpv types.
The purpose of vaccinating with gardasil is to reduce the risk of cervical carcinoma in females.
It seems from your query that she carries Low risk Hpv type rather than cancer causing Hpv types, therefore, it is worth vaccinating her because that would prevent infection with the high risk Hpv types but not against other Hpv types.
Regarding recurrence of genital warts in you, it is very much likely because this vaccine won't protect against Low risk Hpv types and there will be continuous exchange of Hpv (to and fro) between the two of you therefore reducing the chances of spontaneous cure.
