Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have severe allergies and am sick with them now with sinus infection, phlegmy cough. I am getting tingling itching sensations in my throat that come on unexpectedly and takes a gagging cough to alleviate symptoms (sometimes many). I am in college and cannot be gagging excessively during lecture. What can I do to alleviate this ticking while sleeping and in the classroom? thank you
You will have to take anti-allergy medications after seeing a doctor. These can be antihistamines or even steroids. You will need to identify the allergen that is causing your allergic symptoms and avoid it. Few examples of allergens would be dust mite, household dust, animal fur or pollen of plants. Avoiding allergens will cause a decrease in your symptoms. Also perform warm saline gargle and steam inhalation whenever needed for your throat and sinus respectively. Take care. Hope this was of much help to you.
